Duties

You will work on power cables, transformers, insulators, and control equipment such as switches, circuit breakers, and panels. You will install and connect transformers on hangers and platforms making hot taps and splices, underground cable, conduit, and duct work. You will install transformer; string lights and power wires on cross arms and through ducts and manholes; make electrical connections; and splices cables. You will erect and replace poles; perform rigging on high voltage motors, transformers, and compressors. You will use and maintain various hand and power tools of the trade. You will ensure work performed meets required codes (e.g. National Electrical Safety codes and applicable laws and regulations). You will practice proper safety procedures at all times, may also be required to operate aerial trucks an associated equipment. You will drive a utility truck or similar vehicle to and from the work site in order to transport self, supplies, and other employees.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • The employee will be required to furnish normal tools of the trade used on a day to day basis.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid Commercial Class “B” driver’s license, and must maintain on base driving privileges. And any installation and/or DOD license required for the type vehicle and equipment being operated
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • During destructive weather conditions such as, but not limited to, ice and snowstorms, high winds, and hurricanes, incumbent may be required to report for duty.
  • Incumbent will be subject to call back for work during off-duty hours when and emergency arises to include weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
  • The employee will be required to furnish normal tools of the trade used on a day to day basis.

Qualifications
