This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage/Critical Need to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Conduct investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property
Investigate crimes or offenses in accordance with Army Regulations.
Analyze data to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspects to trial.
Provide informal channels to resolve problems arising due to jurisdictional or procedural differences between the military and civil agencies.
Coordinate the transfer of prisoners from civilian to military control.
Maintain continuous accountability reports ensuring that items are properly marked, recorded, stored, issued, turned-in, and returned to owner or disposed of by authorization of proper authority.
Testify concerning the chain of custody and assurance of non-compromise.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Secret security clearance.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must attend and successfully complete the United States Army Military Police School, Military Investigator Course.
- This position requires successful completion of pre-employment and annual physical examinations.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires the employee to submit to pre-employment and random urinalysis exams and sign a DA Form 5019 drug testing position form.
- This position may require shift work to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
- This position requires to maeet and maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
- This position requires to meet and maintain the selection and certification requirements IAW AR 190-30.
- Incumbent must pass annual physical agility test requirements.
- Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
- This position may require State certification for radar and breathalyzer operations.
- This position requires the incumbent to be certified to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems.
- Incumbent must pass periodic medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc).
- Incumbent must be qualified and certified in the use of all assigned weapons and police related equipment which may include chemical aerosol irritants and LESD.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS-07, which includes 1) conducting investigations on committed crimes; 2) collecting evidence from crime scenes; and 3) preparing reports to be used during the judicial process.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
