The incumbent serves as an Investigative Assistant (IA) in Federal Investigative Records Enterprise (FIRE) Automated Federal Leads Center (AFLC) located at Fort Meade, MD or Boyers, PA.

Duties

This announcement is open to: All U.S. Citizens who live or reside in the Fort Meade local commuting area, which includes the District of Columbia and Baltimore City; Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Prince George, Montgomery, Howard, Harford, Charles, Calvert, Carroll, Frederick and Baltimore; Adams County in Pennsylvania; City of Alexandria, VA; Virginia counties of Arlington, Stafford, Prince William, and Fairfax and all cities existing in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties. and All U.S. Citizens who reside or currently employed in the Boyers, PA local commuting area, which includes the Pennsylvania counties of Butler, Clarion, Armstrong, Allegheny, Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer, Crawford, Erie, Venango, Jefferson, Indiana, and Westmorland; Ohio counties of Columbia, Trumbull, and Mahoning; and all cities existing in Pennsylvania or Ohio within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties. As a INVESTIGATIVE ASSISTANT you will be responsible for the following duties:

Requirements

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade (GS/GG-06) in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Conducts a variety of records checks which includes verifying identifying data and searching for information of a discrepant or derogatory nature; Ensures timely processing of daily workload as directed by the supervisor/team leader; Ability to learn unique automated systems and applications used by various Federal agencies; Communicate effectively orally and in writing using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation in order to prepare clear and concise reports and correspondence; Participates in fostering good working relationships with individuals and teams such as Federal, State and Commercial records custodians, records supervisors, and database administrators. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1.Customer Service- Works and communicates with clients and customers (e.g., any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit provides, including individuals who work in your agency or in other agencies or organizations outside the Government) to satisfy their expectations. Manages and Organizes Information- Identifies a need; gathers, organizes, and maintains information; determines its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods. 3.Oral Communication- Expresses ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others; facilitates an open exchange of ideas. 4.Reasoning- Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions. 5. Teamwork- Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
