Duties

You will install pumping equipment such as deep well turbine pumps, centrifugal pumps, piston pumps, diaphragm pumps, circulating pumps, boiler feed pumps, fuel oil pumps, fire truck pumps and associated pumping system equipment. You will replace mechanical seals, bearings, bushing, impellers, and drive couplings. You will repair and adjust pressure reducing valves, float valves, and pump controls. You will diagnose problems to air systems to make corrections and repairs to all associated equipment (e.g., inner coolers, ball check valves, reed valves, accumulator tanks, pressure regulations, and automatic controls and automatic unloaders. You will maintain and repair hydraulic vehicle lifts and cargo elevators.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Example: Diagnosing problems of a variety of mechanical equipment such as pumping equipment (e.g., used in water supply and distribution), and stationary mechanical equipment (e.g., air compressors, single stage to multistage high pressure and large volume type compressors).
