The Women's Health Program Support Assistant is assigned to the Birmingham Veteran Administration Healthcare System (BVAHCS) Women's Health Service Line under the supervision of the Women's Health Nursing Director/Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM). The incumbent is required to render services to, and contact patients, the patients' family members and to contact other VA or community resources to facilitate patient care to include outreach & customer service liaison for the BVAHCS.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Collaborate with the women's health clinics & primary care clinics PACT teams as necessary to assist with establishing care of WVs and customer service
Ability to discuss the social, economic, medical, and psychiatric factors that impact the patients continuing care with internal and external customers.
Conducts progressive outreach to identify and locate women Veterans in need of health care services in Birmingham, surrounding areas and rural areas within the Birmingham catchment area.
Assist with events, presentations, guest speakers, informational booths within the facility and at community agencies to promote women's health.
Collaborates with the facility Outreach Coordinator regarding new enrollees and events: Meets with new admissions for programs at the BVAHCS to inform them of healthcare benefits and his/her role of advocacy.
Tracks correspondence for timely closure of outreach enrollees and patient concerns (e.g., requests for community events, regarding enrollment and delivery of services). Monitors and reports customer satisfaction needs within the Women's Health
Clinics (WHCs) to WHSL leadership and assist with development and implementation of action plans. Maintains daily, monthly, and quarterly statistics as required for various reports, committees, workgroups, etc.
Assists Women's Health leadership as assigned with consultation / education to BVAHCS staff, community agencies, and women Veterans.
Continuous responsibility to meet with new patients at new patient orientation to inform them of healthcare programs and services available and facilitate enrollment and establish primary care team. The incumbent will monitor and ensure customer satisfaction of Women Veterans and the Women's Health Program.
Monitor and assist with customer satisfaction of women Veterans and the Women's Health(e.g. focus groups, forums).

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/08/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to; Knowledge of an extensive body of management and/or program analysis, technical rules, guidelines, regulations and precedents, and knowledge of the basic objectives and policies governing various management or program operations is required; knowledge and skill to operate a typewriter, personal computer, word processor providing clerical and administrative support in an office setting; using various office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; creating and generating reports; coordinating, planning, and organizing administrative duties; preparing meeting agendas and minutes; communicating orally and in writing to internal and external customers; researching various publications, manuals, handbooks, and policies; analyzing, extracting, tracking, summarizing, and compiling information for reporting and review; preparing correspondence; providing customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
