Duties
Responsible for conducting problem analysis, pre-purchase equipment evaluations, coordination of outside contractors, installation, training, preventative maintenance, testing and repairs on medical and surgical equipment located in the Biomedical Department according to equipment standards, patient safety parameters, and regulatory requirements. Assists in the management of the Medical Center Biomedical Program in accordance with local and Federal laws, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Joint Commission regulatory standards, directives and professional guidelines. Engages in planning and directing or overseeing the installation of complex systems and develops additional procedural instructions for equipment repairs as needed.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment.
Experience in the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on medical electronic equipment, or similar functions.
Experience in demonstrating the ability to provide technical support, manage, monitor and develop schedules of biomedical electronic equipment.
Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of biomedical electronic systems or equipment.
