About the Position: Serve as a Food Service Worker Leader for William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Nutrition Care Division, El Paso, Texas.
Duties
Cooks foods for regular and modified diets, both hot and cold.
Ensure that needed material and instructions are provided to complete task.
Explain work requirements and instructs subordinates of any new procedures.
Collect and return trays to the food cart, and insure proper disposal of trays.
Assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.
Stock bulk nourishments in the pantry, storing them properly
Delivers individual nourishments to patients.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules
- Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform the most difficult and complex task preparing, transporting and delivering meals to patients. I am skilled in checking menus against orders to ensure accuracy of trays being delivered to patients; explaining work requirements, methods, and procedures to subordinates; operating kitchen equipment according to established usage and safety instructions; and organizing and assigning task to be performed and ensuring work is complete.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: The work requires the employee to lift items weighing over 40 pounds; to bend, stoop, push and pull heavy objects; and involves continuous standing, walking and sitting. Must possess good eyesight and coordination for cash register, money handling duties.
Working Conditions: Employee performs work in noisy kitchen and dining room areas and is subject to injuries from equipment used. There is exposure to dirt, grease and water in cleaning tasks and exposure to extremes of temperature in bringing supplies from walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
