This position is part of the Selective Service System, Public & Intergov Affairs Directorate, Data Management Center, Registration Systems Analysis Branch. The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out tasks involving the application of specific standards, methods, and procedures, in order to complete entire segments of an assignment or project of broader scope.
Duties
Assists senior IT Specialist in various aspects of supporting the RCV and ECM applications. Diagnoses and resolves recurring problems in response to customer reported incidents; reports, responds, and resolves customer requests.
Updates and maintains IT problem ticketing systems to track and identify customer needs; discusses requirements with the customer to resolve customer needs.
Installs, configures, upgrades and troubleshoots hardware and software components.
Assists teams responsible for planning and delivering a full range of customer support services to the organization.
Qualifications
In addition to meeting specialized experience requirements, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
For the GS-07:
A. Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level, or equivalent. Specialized experience includes (1) following basic operations or procedures related to computer capabilities and processing techniques; (2) providing phone, remote, and desk side support to technical and non-technical customers; (3) experience operating systems (such as input/output, data manipulation, table handling or online processing); AND have IT-related experience which demonstrates the (four) required competencies - Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.

B. One full academic year of graduate-level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. (Note: You must submit copies of your college transcripts.)
OR
C. A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. (Note: You must submit copies of your college transcripts.)

Eligibility Requirements:
In order to be eligible for the Pathways Recent Graduates Program, the following qualifications must be met:
Be a U.S. citizen;
Possess a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years.
Veterans: If you are a veteran, as defined in 5 U.S.C. 2108, who, due to military service obligation, was precluded from applying to the Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period, you shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon your release or discharge from active duty. In no event, however, may your eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which you completed the requirements of an academic course of study.
In order to be converted to a term or permanent position you will be required to complete 640 hours of employment.
Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
A combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the specialized experience requirement.
