You will serve as a Shipwright Supervisor I in the Structural and Service Shop of the Production Department at PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will be responsible for planning the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools to accomplish nuclear/non-nuclear work operations.
You will plan on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis in order to ensure that workers with appropriate qualifications are available to fulfill the requirements.
You will use the Plan-of-the-Day or other scheduling documents to determine critical path and other priorities.
You will assign work to individual workers by verbal and/or written instructions.
You will determine training requirements for subordinates based on work assignments.
You will observe work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, and assure use of appropriate work practices, expedite the flow of material and equipment to and from the work site, and reassign personnel supervised as determined by workload.
You will report the work progress and possible schedule or cost variance to upper management.
You will take or recommend disciplinary actions, promotion or reassignment of subordinates, and maintain required work reports and records.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- This position requires the ability to climb ladders and stairways in and out of drydocks and on-board ship.
- This position involves considerable walking, climbing, stooping, and bending.
- This position requires good eyesight and hearing, normal or improved.
