This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) Cadre Detachment at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Duties

Discusses intervention goals with the Soldier, family members, pertinent military personnel and other caregivers to facilitate goal achievement. Develops, runs, advertises, and analyzes outcomes of life skills and adapted reconditioning activity groups relevant to Army Recovery Care Program (ARCP) goals and specifically, goals and needs of Soldiers in the units. Provides instruction, education, motivation and coordination with other personnel, to ensure compliance with stated therapeutic programs and goals and accommodate Soldier's inherent medical complexity. Administers standardized assessments consistent with current occupational standards and scope of practice.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Childcare National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (CNACI) background investigation and has periodic re-verification requirements.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position, you must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

  • Successful passing of a pre-employment medical examination is required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing occupational therapy treatment plans and educating on occupational rehabilitation programs or evaluating patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate-level education from an accredited college or university leading to such a degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science or related field of study. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. AND Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
