The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support to the Child Development Center, as well as assisting in the classrooms by providing children with safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate care.
Duties
Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the Child Development Center (CDC) program.
Monitors and manages the reception desk.
Accepts applications for full-time, enrichment program, camp and before and after school care of children.
Uses multiple types of office automation equipment and software to create, format, modify, edit and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.
Computes, collects, records, and deposits fees and other service charges.
Performs additional duties as needed to include assisting in the classrooms during period of staff shortage and staff breaks.

- This position has been identified as having regular contact with children. IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231. An FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.

- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license
- A qualified typist is required. Must meet OPM typing requirement of 40 W.P.M.
- Must be 18 years of age, told a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to speak, read and write English
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's certificate
- Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
- Must complete required training modules and annual training requirements
- Incumbent must posses maturity and sound judgment and be capable of handling emergency situations common in dealing with small children in a child development center environment
- May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty, including nights, weekends and holidays and travel
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR
EDUCATION: I have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of experience and education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts with your application.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of rules, procedures, or operations applied to secretarial and clerical assignments to perform the routine, procedural work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, and maintaining files/records.
Knowledge of Child Development Center programs and procedures to screen telephone calls and visitors and prepare and review correspondence.
Knowledge of various office automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual and spreadsheet documents; Skills of a qualified typist is required.
Ability to locate, assemble, compose routine, non-technical information for recurring reports and inquiries.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
Ability to learn funds handling techniques and procedures, use cash registers, adding machines, time clocks, and other office equipment.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
