About the Position: This position is located within the Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Moore, GA. Incumbent will perform duties in support of the receipt, storage, and distribution of linen items within the medical treatment facility (MTF). Work hours are primary on the first shift with possibility of shift work.
Duties
Count, weigh, and record quantities of linens for receipt and/or issuance of bulk linens.
Open bundles to sort linen by type, quantity and size.
Weigh linen carts, record weight and push carts to Linen Room for linen separation.
Fill shelves and delivery carts to designated stock levels.
Select and issue the proper quantity, type, and size of linen items to patients and staff.
Sort and deliver clean linen in order to replenish linen closets.
Annotate and sign linen forms to document the issuance of linens and quantity.
Receive linen items such as bedsheets, pillowcases, towels, bedspreads, physician smocks and coats, operating room scrubs, special pajamas for patients, scuffs, and operating equipment wrappers within a medical treatment facility.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a favorable result from a National Agency Background Check.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a hepatitis screening.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laundry Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Laundry Work activities. I can collect, receive, and store linen and apparel, assemble and issue clean linen. I can set marking machine by pressing keys and follow established sequences to set procedure accordingly of Laundry Work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Works on hard surfaces while standing and walking. Frequently stoops, bends, push carts, and lifts bags weighing up to 70 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a linen storage room and wards in a hospital environment, which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Is exposed to all types of inclement weather when moving carts and weighing laundry outside at loading ramp. Is subject to falls from ramp and bruises from moving carts. Wears protective gloves when handling contaminated linen.
