You will serve as an Industrial Engineering Technician in the Production Engineering & Facilities Division (Code 982), Equipment Branch of the Production Resources Department PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will furnish advice to senior level Industrial Engineers, the Division Head and Shop Heads, concerning efficient and safe utilization of the Department's resources.
You will plan and accomplish complete industrial engineering projects or studies of a complex nature requiring independent adaptation of a general history or background data and information.
You will participate in the development of new shop work procedures designed to keep pace with advances in the technology of methods, material, tools and equipment and their application to Shipyard work.
You will conduct feasibility studies to determine specific industrial safety requirements/problems.
You will organize, coordinate and assess the efforts of industrial engineers to ensure objectives and requirements are met and safety is not compromised.
You will prepare correspondence, technical reports, estimates, fact sheets, status reports and schedules as required to complete project assignment.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying principles, techniques, concepts and practices pertaining to industrial engineering processes and functions to ensure objectives and requirements are met.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships and gaining confidence and cooperation of supervisors and managers to accept proposals on complex issues.
Experience solving problems encountered while working with equipment and structures as related to industrial facilities.
Experience analyzing engineering information to ensure that design, development, review, and implementation are completed satisfactorily.
GS-11- For Applicants who are current or prior Federal service employees: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying problem solving techniques to resolve program deficiencies pertaining to industrial engineering processes and functions.
Experience applying written and oral communication skills to prepare graphs and charts, and to present findings and recommend solutions.
Experience operating computer applications and database software.
GS-11 - For Outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal service): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying problem solving techniques to resolve program deficiencies pertaining to industrial engineering processes and functions.
Experience applying written and oral communication skills to prepare graphs and charts, and to present findings and recommend solutions.
