This National Guard position is for a SOCIAL WORKER, Position Description Number T5012000 and is part of the PA Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel DCSPER, National Guard.

Duties
As a Social Worker, GS-0185-12, you will support the psychological health team in developing and executing an annual BH program strategy. Develop relationships with military and community groups to enhance prevention efforts and expand available BH resources. Coordinate and implement prevention and education programs. Conduct clinical screening, evaluation, and consultation services. Build efficient processes to manage BH referrals and case management services. Conduct population-based behavioral health surveillance to examine trends and further develop targeted prevention and mitigation strategies. Provide consultation, education, and training to military and non-military health care professionals concerning behavioral health policy, psychological fitness, and primary and secondary prevention programs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED
This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

AOC B: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

License Requirement: Applicant must have a current, unrestricted State license to practice clinical social work independently.
DEGREE REQUIREMENT: Master's Degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and acceptable to the Surgeon General.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources is mandatory.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must indicate at least 36 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Except as stated above, no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Education
