You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Naval Hospital Beaufort, South Carolina of NMRTC BEAUFORT SC.
Duties
You will assist with initiating, planning, and directing a positive information program to inform target audiences of the activities, goals and accomplishments of Naval Hospital Beaufort (NHS).
You will manage and direct the hospital’s public affairs program and serves as a special assistant to the command in public affairs matters.
You will establish and maintain relations with military news media and area public affairs offices, providing them with a variety of information on issues related to the commands operation in the community.
You will market, publicize and advertise command products/services and notable accomplishments through print, broadcast, internet and other media format.
You will assist with visits of foreign military/dignitaries with Navy International Program Office, supports visits as needed by VIP’s and Distinguished Visitors. Including the President, Vice President, members of Congress and senior DOD officials.
You will coordinate tours and visits of command by visiting groups, assists community groups as they visit each area, and serve as the information liaison for the command, providing photographic coverage as required.
Requirements
- This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Managing a command information program designed to keep assigned staff members, (e.g., military staff and civilian employees), informed of organizational, (e.g., Navy), significant national/international events and policy decisions;
- Meeting with organizational councils and committees to deal with morale, human relations and other people-related issues, providing advice on methods of communicating presenting and approach to the internal publicity;
- Serving as focal point of contact in the organization',(e.g., NHB ), Public Affairs office for inquiries received from reporters, writers, producers and editors of national and international news media;
- Advocating for patients, incumbent facilities resolution of problems and/or initiates patient concerns through department of division concerned, providing solutions to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Coordinating with the Command Privacy Officer for the protection of patient privacy and compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA).

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
SUCCESSFUL completion of a Master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
Two "2" full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR
LL.B. or J.D., if related. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
