This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Comp Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Duties

Responsible for supporting Special Warfare Center and School (SWCS) operations by modernizing SWCS data systems and structures. Serves as the principal investigator for data engineering requiring a high degree of technical competence in order to gauge the extent to which the perimeters of the state-of-the-art can be pushed. Develops data pipeline flow, automation, usability, and long-term sustainability. Works with Chief Science Officer to plan and conduct data engineering projects and/or studies to evaluate, design, and tabulate statistical sampling plans and analytical procedures and processes. Assist with research and analysis section of G3, supporting SWCS enterprise with expertise on data initiatives to ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Data Engineer:A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Recommending new/modified standards to increase efficiency; 2) Analyzing and implementing data management applications; 3) Analyzing changes in data requirements for all applications/software to ensure compliance with data management standards; and 4) Providing guidance for project related to data delivery, infrastructure and data systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
