Qualifications

At the GS-7 level - Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (equivalent to GS-5 in the Federal service).   Specialized experience includes: Work that requires analyzing reports or data; applying laws, rules, and regulations. OR applicants may substitute successful completion of one full year of graduate level education which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. OR combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience that which meets the total qualification requirement for the GS-07 level. OR Superior Academic Achievement Note: Transcripts are required if you are qualifying based on education. At the GS-9 level: Applicants must have 1 full year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the federal service). Specialized experience includes:  Work that required knowledge of, and skill in, applying laws, regulations, executive orders, advanced principles and concepts to conduct criminal investigations; perform operational intelligence collection permission requirements; provide protective service operations, domestic and foreign; conduct administrative (internal affairs) investigations and enforce applicable federal laws; comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply laws, policies, regulations, directives, procedures, and instructions regarding Maritime Law Enforcement and the Federal statutes and regulations of the UCMJ (Title 10, U.S. Code). OR - Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree;   OR- 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR - Possess a combination of specialized experience AND graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.   Note: Transcripts are required if you are qualifying based on education.   At the GS-11: Applicants must have 1 full year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the federal service). Specialized experience includes: Conducting physical security surveys and vulnerability assessments; actual experience conducting investigations; training in all matter involving evidence processing and preparation for processing at the State Crime Lab and testifying in court. OR- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR- 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR- LL.M., if related Note: Transcripts are required if you are qualifying based on education.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
