About the Position: Serves under the general administrative supervision of the ACS Director in terms of broadly defined missions and overall policy direction. Coordinates and directs the FAP independently. Receives guidance and direction from regulations, local standing operating procedures, commander and higher headquarters staff.
Duties
Develop and implement installation procedures that outline responsibilities for the execution of the Family Advocacy Program.
Provide Victim Advocacy Services such as classes, shelter, court and hospital accompaniment, emotional support, and referrals to victims of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse.
Develop and provides training and publicity campaigns to inform the installation on child, spousal abuse, Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children and Youth (PSB-CY).
Identify program resource requirements to provide input for the Family Advocacy Program budget.
Maintain the New Parent Support Program by providing home and hospital visits to new parents for families that may be a risk of child abuse/neglect.

- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires you to Obtain and maintain Victim Advocate Certification through NOVA

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Basic Education Requirements: I have a master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized experience: I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing crisis intervention, risk and clinical assessments, case management, command consultation and administrative tasks to prevent and treat child and spouse/intimate partner abuse; and providing counseling and developing treatment plans or recommendations serving various beneficiary groups scattered over a large geographical area.
OR
Education: I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university that is directly related to the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: I have some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have more than two years of graduate level education, but less than three years of graduate-level education as described in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least I 00%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of36 hours (total semesters hours minus 36) by I 8. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least I 00 percent to qualify.) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
