About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable . This position is with 7th Signal Command, 93rd Signal Brigade, located at Fort Meade, Maryland.

Duties

Perform analysis to determine root causes of vulnerabilities and best methodology to remediate identified vulnerabilities. Responsible for assessing the security posture of classified and unclassified IS with respect to Security Technical Implementation Guides and Anti-Virus (AV) protection. Prepare quarantine reports for devices that are not in compliance with the IAVM Program by the required quarantine date, in accordance with DoD, Army, and 7th SC quarantine policies and procedures. Conduct wireless networks war driving using scanning tools such as Flying Squirrel or equivalent. Collects audit and usage data and prepares reports for senior-management Responsible for forensics analysis resulting from cybersecurity violations, unexplained IS performance anomalies and incidents, and classified data spills. Responsible for conducting RMF functions to support the certification and accreditation process. Test RMF controls interpreting government policies and procedures, creates/closes POAMs, and loads artifacts in eMASS. Responsible for research on unclassified and classified security trends in the Federal government, DoD, Department of Army (DA), and locally.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position requires lifting up to 10 pounds.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• Must complete the COMSEC Management Client Course (MGC).
• In accordance with DoDI 5205.08, the incumbent must enroll in the Department of Army Cryptographic Access Program (DACAP) and will be subject to a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination.

(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: identifying and solving problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives; recognizing and taking action to address non-routine problems; soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders to understand an issue or problem and accurately assess its root causes and potential solutions; seeking supervisory review where appropriate. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
