The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) is the senior Department of Defense official responsible for the acceleration of the DoD's adoption of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence to generate decision advantage from the boardroom to the battlefield. The mission of the CDAO Acquisitions Division is to provide rapid, effective and efficient acquisition support to CDAO and Joint Warfighters.
Duties
Lead the development and issuance of contractual policies and procedures to ensure successful acquisition outcomes.
Drive the research, development, technical requirements, prioritization, evaluation procedures, procurement forecast, and technology transfer strategy for the creation of innovative digital and AI-enabled capabilities.
Supervises the planning, organizing, and execution of procurement activities supporting assigned procurement portfolio(s).
Provides direction for the most urgent, complex, precedent-setting contracting actions, provides oversight with direction for all phases of acquisition planning, contract negotiations, award, and contract administration.
Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies Federal DoD guidelines, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), business and industry practices, market trends, General Accounting Office (GAO), Comptroller General decisions, public law, and case law and precedents.

- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

- This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.

You may qualify at the GG-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector).
Specialized experience is defined as: Experience your ability drive the research, development, technical requirements, prioritization, evaluation procedures, procurement forecast, and technology transfer strategy for the creation of innovative digital and AI-enabled capabilities essential to support mission and supervise the planning, organizing, and execution of procurement activities supporting assigned procurement portfolio(s).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
