Summary
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Schriever Space Force Base (Colorado Springs) is searching for an Electronics Engineer for the 4 SOPS (NH-0855-03, GS12/13 Equivalent).
Description:
Serves as Professional Electronics Engineer with project management, execution, and operational responsibility in assigned area(s). The position is responsible for engineering assignments concerning MILSATCOM Satellite systems.
Lead for Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates significant and complex projects in MILSATCOM satellite systems, As well as, providing 24/7 356 days operational support.
Performs complex and comprehensive analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects.
Lead in special projects, initiatives, and prepares oral/written reports.
Conducts analysis of various systems, relationships, and models, i.e., evaluating and/or redefining the impact of new capabilities on current systems and policies.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
2. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
4. Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and other engineering disciplines.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
6. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
7. Strong understanding and expertise in Satellite Operations, Space Force/Department of the Air Force; At least a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required; acquisition; and planning, programming, budget, and execution processes.
Employee plans and carries out assignments independently; conceives and defines solutions to highly complex problems; analyzes, interprets, and reports findings of projects; and guides technical and programmatic work of team members in comparable junior grades. Completed work and reports are reviewed for feasibility, compatibility with other work or effectiveness in meeting requirements or expected results. Position involves 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. Requires Sensitive Compartmented Information access and work in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Employee must have a strong understanding and expertise in Satellite Operations, Space Force/Department of the Air Force; At least a bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required; acquisition; and planning, programming, budget, and execution processes.
Ability to organize work, set priorities; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress and evaluate outcomes.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance and successfully pass a drug test.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI clearance.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Random drug testing may be required depending upon the position being filled.
- This position is not eligible for remote work.
- PCS funding is not available.
