Duties

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the focal point for security forces appointments and provide training for security forces at an installation. Duties: Serves as the focal point for the security forces appointment roster, coordinating, scheduling, forecasting and publishing all training, medical and readiness appointments for the unit. Conducts training classes for security forces personnel. Schedules, attends, and arranges meetings, briefings, and workshops and performs other miscellaneous clerical duties related to security forces training. Receives and directs telephone calls or visitors.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: 1) knowledge of a body of standardized security forces training rules, procedures, and operations to perform or explain a full range of clerical procedures in support of training programs such and to resolve recurring problems; 2) knowledge of procedures, requirements, and terminology related to the training programs to process requests, compile training reports, forecast training requirements, maintain training development files and records, and provide general information; 3) knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of training documents and reports; 4) knowledge and skill in computers and software programs to extract, revise, construct, update or sort information from files, records, or database; 5) knowledge and skill in presenting security forces training and unit orientation programs such as Phase I, SABC, Use of Force, etc., training courses. OR EDUCATION: Applicants have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants have a combination of experience and education to qualify for this position and understand the computed percentage of the requirements must be at least 100%. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of security forces operations and functions sufficient to utilize well-established policies, procedures and techniques to perform the routine, procedural work of the office, such as collecting information and maintaining electronic records. 2. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data; a qualified typist is not required. 3. Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of instruction. 4. Skills in selecting and using the most appropriate methods in developing and presenting informal subject matter course materials/briefings in a classroom seminar setting. 5. Skills in one or more established automated systems to enter, maintain, sort, and retrieve organizational and/or program data. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
