Duties

You will recognize the need for improvements to Master Clock and time transfer electronics systems, subsystems, components, connections, and their associated electrical power systems; and design, modify, build, assemble, repair, and maintain them. You will physically install electronic circuits and cables, moving equipment and clocks, general maintenance, and similar work. You will assist the different time transfer divisions with respective missions. You will recognize the need for new techniques, particularly of electronic nature, and develop them using nonstandard theory, taking into account the complex dependencies between the Master Clock and other time transfer systems and subsystems.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using a variety of guidelines, manuals, and standard reference materials that are not completely applicable to the work or have gaps in specificity requiring the use of judgment and initiative to interpret and adapt them to specific cases and problems. Experience completing assignments that require the use of independent judgement and skill to interpret and analyze considerable amounts of data, plan the work, and refine methods and techniques. Experience applying a considerable number of different basic but established methods, procedures, and techniques that affect the operations of systems and equipment and the timeliness and economy of operations, service, and equipment. GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using a wide range of technical methods, principles, requirements, work techniques, and practices in electronics. Experience applying standardized, analytical and evaluative methods and techniques sufficient to advise on or resolve difficult but well precedented, factual, procedural, or recurring issues. Experience performing installation, maintenance, operation, and testing duties and employing unique and specifically designed instruments. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree. Education must be directly related to the work of the position.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

***NOTE: Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
