About the Position: This position is assigned to Directorate of Resource Management Housekeeping, Naval Hospital, San Diego, California.
Duties
Pick up linen and load into hand trucks.
Weigh loaded trucks on scales to assure accurate weight.
Place laundry on conveyor belts to transport finished bulk laundry.
Sort, fold and stack articles that includes sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels, gowns, pajamas, robes etc.
Assist in issuing linen over the counter to clinics.
Assist with quarterly inventory of linen.
Assist with gathering fresh linen to be carted to wards.
Celan work area, car and equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require on-call duties.
- The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- The work may require overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- This position is designated "Mission Essential."
- This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 100 lbs. in the regular performance of duties

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LAUNDRY WORKER~ without more than normal supervision. I can collect, receive, and store linen and apparel, assemble and issue clean linen. I have the ability to perform common Laundry Work activities. I can follow established sequences to set procedure accordingly of Laundry Work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Incumbent must be able to handle or lift an average of 50 pounds and may be required to lift 100 pounds on a continuing daily basis.
Working Conditions: Incumbent works indoors and outdoors. Worker is exposed to moving laundry trucks, to the hazards of sharp instruments or broken glass when sorting linen and general hospital odors. Required to work on a rotating schedule subject to shift changes, changes in assignments, recall (in case of emergencies and/or absences, etc.).
