Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Launch Delta 30 at Vandenberg Space Force Base is searching for a Prevention Coordination Specialist (NH-0101-03). Description: In this position you get to serve as the Prevention Coordination Specialist at an Air Force/Space Force installation. Under the direction of the Integrated Prevention Chief, you will develop and deliver integrated prevention and resilience programs, activities and resources specifically tailored to address personal readiness, local/unique risk and protective factors of the population served. This position is responsible for development and delivery of comprehensive, coordinated prevention and resilience activities (i.e., training), and outreach (i.e., strategic messaging and marketing) to deliver optimal support to the installation's Total Force and families. You will collaborate and integrate primary prevention efforts in areas such as sexual assault, family violence (incl. intimate partner violence and child abuse and neglect), workplace violence (incl. harassment, bullying and hazing), suicide, and alcohol abuse/misuse. You can also take advantage of California's central coast agriculture with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetable from local vendors and of course stop at one of the hundred plus local wineries for a tasting. While working you will be asked to advance a diverse workforce by visibly providing the planning framework for a strong leadership and commitment to diversity. Through synchronization and oversight, this office seeks to broaden USSF outreach and recruitment. The focus of the mission is to create a community of inclusion, building and executing a diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy that will positively and measurably affect the culture, team, and employee experience in the USSF. All of this while witnessing rockets launch every two weeks! Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to prevention and resilience. 2. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to prevention and resilience and the multiple uses of such systems. 3. In-depth knowledge of DAF culture, military family dynamics, related professional fields, and a thorough knowledge of the DAF community and the unique challenges that DAF families face; or equivalent knowledge. 4. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. 5. Ability to effectively lead and chair committees, working groups, and teams. 6. Ability to work well with others in a team approach and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a behavioral, social science, or related discipline appropriate to this position is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience within primary prevention is highly desired.
  • Must obtain, maintain, and renew credentialing as required by a credentialing board identified by the DoD and specified in policy.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Position requires flexibility and adaptability to implement DAF’s frequent program and policy modifications, which are often quickly made in response to evolving environments, mission sets and risk/protective factors.
  • Given the sensitivity of the position, a criminal background check may need to be completed.
  • Incumbent must meet screening/suitability criteria listed in DoD and DAF guidance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This position is eligible for situational telework, 2-4 days per pay period.
  • PCS and incentives are not authorized.
