In this position you will serve as a Financial Management Specialist, the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Regional Offices, Region 9, Mission Support Division. The ideal candidate for this position will provide informed decision-making and improve government effectiveness by providing timely, reliable, and transparent financial services and information.

Qualifications

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Assisting with examining vouchers, invoices and other source documents to verify obligations while using an automated travel management program; and Reviewing financial reports, statements and schedules for budgetary review; and Providing guidance through a travel help-desk; and Maintaining accounting records. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination of education and experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Examining vouchers, invoices and other source documents to verify obligations while using an automated travel management program; and Developing and establishing travel standard operating procedures and processes; and Managing fund control points and internal budgetary processes; and Reporting of financial accounting data to include preparation of financial reports, statements and schedules for budgetary review.
