This National Guard position is for a SAFETY SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0696000 and is part of the FL JFHQ, National Guard.
Duties
As a SAFETY SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0018-9, you will provide safety related expertise to unit commanders and supervisors in the establishment of techniques and procedures for the elimination or control of unsafe acts (conditions), environments or hazards. Conducts safety assistance visits to units during annualtraining, convoy, range and other related tactical operations to ensurecompliance will all safety regulations and guidelines and to minimizeaccident risk.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First
consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

MILITARY GRADES: Warrant Officers/Enlisted: E5 - CW3
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-07 level or the equivalent which provided a working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and federal civilian or military personnel programs. Experience, education, or training performing periodic onsite surveys, to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety standards. Prepared or revised safety instructions and guides. Advised personnel of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes which may cause mishaps. Investigated mishaps, obtained statements from witnesses, and photographed mishap scenes. Recorded circumstances of mishaps and extent of injuries, prepared final report(s) of findings with recommendations to correct the unsafe acts or conditions which caused injuries or property damage.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of amaster's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
