This position is located in Arches National Park, within the Division of Interpretation and Visitor Services and is a part of the Southeast Utah Group containing Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Hovenweep National Monument, and Natural Bridges National Monument. Duties

Major Duties: Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions, and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds. Review and verify the functionality of new fee related systems or modifications to existing systems as a result of regulatory and program requirements. Review and verify the accuracy of manuals and/or standard operating procedures for the implementation of new and existing system designs and/or modifications. Provide informal and formal training and education to employees, partners, volunteers, interns, cooperating association representatives, etc. regarding automated and non-automated fee processes, systems, software programs, tools, etc. Physical Demands: This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money. If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, and other emergency response duties.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-03/12/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. Quality Ranking Factor: Handling Money - able to handle, collect, and account for money. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing fee collection, accounting, or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. If you are using education to qualify you must submit a copy of your transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, 6 months of the specialized experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and 12 semester hours of graduate study from an accredited institution (75% of the qualifying education) as specified in B above, equals greater than 100% of the total requirement. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating number of credit hours in order to qualify based on the combination option). Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
