Duties

Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list A AMMUNITION INSPECTION LEADER, WL-6501-9, 1. Communicates instructions received from supervisor to work team, and initiates work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led). Ensures needed plans, drawings, material, schematics, applicable technical manuals, and tools are available, and needed stock is available. Ensures there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew effective, efficient, and busy contributing significantly to the overall mission. Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet established and impromptu deadlines, demonstrates proper work methods. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instruction, and other directives (e.g., schematics, technical orders); obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work. Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and that cools are properly used). (25%) 2. Initiates and maintains inspection reports, publications, and files. Verifies all services' suspension and restriction notices. Records inspection results to the Depot Surveillance Record (DSR) in the Munitions History Program (MHP). Assists in gathering information for the preliminary malfunction report noting all facts pertinent to this malfunction. Confers with Quality Assurance Specialist Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS), Ammunition Officer, or other experts to arrive at probable cause for the malfunction and makes recommendation on suspense action. Exhibits an in-depth knowledge of ammunition administrative procedures as outlined in Department of the Army (DA) regulations, pamphlets, and other applicable regulations. Researches and analyzes, maintains technical manuals, drawings, and specifications to ensure assigned procedures are applicable to specific items. Participates in the development, revision and/or update of SOPs, as required. Adheres to SOPs and other regulatory guidance, during normal maintenance, care, preservation and other ammunition preparation operations, to assure safety of end product and safety during operations. Responsible to complete risk assessments, take necessary safety precautions to prevent accident, or incident, and prevent fires. Report all accidents and incidents to supervisory chain in a timely manner, and complete all required documentation to record accident or incident. (75%) Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY GRADES: ENLISTED/ WARRANT to CW3 Failure to obtain a compatible MOS may result in termination of employment. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:WL (All Grade Levels) - In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series
