The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Clinical Psychologist (Health Psychologist Consultant) delivering consultative services to patients as part of the primary care team within the Mid Atlantic Service Unit. This position is located at the Monacan Health Center in Madison Heights, VA.
Duties
Provides a full range of professional therapeutic techniques in conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations and diagnosis of patients with a range of mental health issues.
Provide therapeutic services based on comprehensive treatment plans that outline the therapeutic goals, methods, and modality to meet the individualized treatment needs of each patient.
Provide scheduled behavioral/mental health emergency services and crisis intervention.
Conduct psychological testing and comprehensive psychological assessments of referred patient to guide diagnosis, treatment planning, evaluations and clinical services.
Conduct individual and group therapy, psychoeducational sessions, service unit and community training, and psychotherapeutic interventions.
Provides case management and coordination of care with patients medical provider, care team, and other internal and/or external providers.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
Selective Placement Factor: Selective factors are knowledge, skills, abilities, or special qualifications that are in addition to the minimum requirements in a qualification standard, but are determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THE FOLLOWING SELEVTIVE FACTOR ARE INELIGIBLE FOR FUTHER CONSIDERATION:
Licensure: Must posses and maintain a valid, current, unrestricted license or certification in a state as a Clinical Psychologist.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
Experience providing clinical psychological services including evaluation, diagnosis, referral, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and specialized treatment modalities for mental health problems of children, adolescents, adults and families. Experience assessing high acuity (crisis) patients regarding level of care dispositions based on direct patient examination.Experience as a psychologist in a mental health setting clinic or hospital while providing psychological evaluations, deliver therapeutic mental health treatment modalities for patients; provide consultation, collaboration and follow up; assist and refer patients with acute, chronic or severe mental illnesses and dual diagnosis patient populations; Alcohol and Drug/Co-Occurring Disorders experience. Use an electronic health records for patients.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
