About the Position: As an Engineer Equipment Mechanic Leader with the US Army Engineer District, Operations Division, Mat Sinking Unit you will serve as the working leader in accomplishing repairing and overhauling of heavy engineering and construction equipment.
NOTE: The duty location of this position is wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located.
Duties
Incumbent directs work of lower graded employees to ensure work is completely timely.
Perform full range of mechanic work on heavy engineering and construction equipment.
Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. Ensures hazardous materials are handled within operating guidelines.
Ensures economic use of supplies and correct operation of equipment.
Provides input into performance appraisals. Subject to assignment on other phases of productive work.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical as well as an annual physical.
- This position requires work in inclement weather conditions.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens thereafter.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineer Equipment Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. Duties include: overhauling and repair work on wheeled and track-laying heavy and special engineer equipment such as cranes, power shovels, bulldozers, road graders, rollers, heavy duty compressors, large generators, tractors, trucks, lifts, pumps, etc.; fabrication and machining of parts; and/or body work such as welding, soldering, and straightening. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Work requires substantial physical effort when handling equipment and machinery. Work may involve long periods of standing, lifting, climbing, and crouching and walking.
Working Conditions: Works inside on concrete floors or steel decks; also works outside on steel decks de on steel decks subject to all weather extremes bruises, burns, and electrical shock. Exposed to dirt, grease, exhaust fumes, cuts and mashed finger.
