You will serve as a CARTOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN in the S-4 Installations and Logistics Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.
Duties
You will operate and maintain standard GIS hardware, software and print production equipment.
You will incorporate as-built drawings provided by contractors into the electronic database system, to include performing QA/QC, data conversion, and editing utilizing both physical inspection and automated techniques using ESRI’s ArcGIS software.
You will integrate GPS collected geospatial and non-geospatial data into existing databases and analyze for accuracy and completeness.
You will provide database development in support of creating cartographical and digital data products.
You will develop and monitor the production of geospatial data to support the enterprise GIS and hardcopy map generation.
You will produce maps including construction of projections, design, compilation, drafting and reproduction for the purpose of developing or use of Geographical Information Systems.
You will use extensive knowledge of spatial data relationships, map projections, coordinate systems and data collection methodologies.
You will consult with customers to refine functional requirements, translate functional requirements into design specifications, and determine best approaches for implementation within the technical environment.
You will be responsible for creating maps for specific customer requests.

Qualifications
GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing expertise in technical support duties. Specialized experience must include performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Providing drafting and technical support for cartographic and digital data products by compiling, updating, and maintaining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases for an organization; 2) Reading and understanding floor plans and various types of digital data for the production of geospatial databases; 3) Incorporating as-built drawings provided by contractors into an electronic database system; 4) Performing Quality Assurance/Quality Checks, data conversion, and editing utilizing both physical inspection and automated techniques using ArcGIS software developed by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI); and 5) Preparing briefs that provide technical findings and recommendations to upper management in support of a GIS program mission.
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Integrating multiple source data into a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database using construction drawings and digital data for geospatial data management in support of an organization's facility and business processes; 2) Compiling geospatial data for reports; and 3) Providing customer support for an organization's GIS program by providing technical information to GIS data managers and end-users.

Education
GS-09: Education may be used as a substitute for specialized experience. Education must be directly related to the work of the position:
- Successful completion of at least two full years of graduate education; or
- Successful completion of a Master's degree; or
- A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
