This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Currency Manufacturing DCF. As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supervising, through subordinate prevailing rate supervisors, a sophisticated security printing or printing related manufacturing function. You ensure quality control is performed in accordance with the BEP Quality Control Manual, ISO standards and equipment manufacturer's specifications for operations, maintenance and service.
Duties
The BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement.
As an Operations Manager, you will:
Supervise and manage through subordinate supervisors a multiple shift craft and related semi-skilled manufacturing operation engaged in Offset printing, Overprinting, Intaglio printing, Reclamation, Packaging and Delivery of US Currency.
Assign, direct, and review through subordinate supervisors or personally, the work of subordinates and evaluate their work performance. The position plans, schedules, and coordinates work operations.
Explain and gain the support of subordinates for management policies and goals.
Deal with employees and union representatives regarding employee suggestions, complaints, grievances, and perform a variety of administrative and other ministerial duties attendant to the sections production responsibilities.
Compile and prepare quantitative and qualitative reports regarding manufacturing equipment, processes and personnel.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-14 is one year (52 weeks) of experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as experience:
Supervising or leading within a manufacturing facility, AND
Developing, implementing and tracking performance metrics for operations, AND
Maintaining quality control of work in a plant or manufacturing facility.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
