About the Position: Serve as a Lead Medical Technician for the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in Doral FL. Provide technical expertise, guidance, and leadership to the medical examination group. In-process applicants; verify applicant's identity using previously captured biometrics; maintain applicant medical records, perform customer service duties; screen applicants records for conducting physical examinations.

Duties

Maintain applicants medical records. Ensure proper format, coding, and completion of Department of Defense and USMEPCOM medical forms. Performs phlebotomy procedures using USMEPCOM standard safety precautions. Conduct standardized medical orientation briefing to applicants. Perform operator-level maintenance (including daily preventative maintenance and services) on testing equipment. Perform computer data entry utilizing applicable computer programs. Prepare control logs for Drug and Alcohol Test (DAT), label specimens, obtain log signatures and specimen label initials, quality checks chain of custody document, prepare packages, and ship specimens to testing laboratory. Coach, facilitate, solve work problems, and participate in the work of the MEPS Medical Exam Function. Provide input to Supervisor on performance, progress, training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems. Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Must be able to pass a color perception (vision) examination.
  • Must be physically able to perform (demonstrate) and evaluate military physical aptitude (maneuvers) tests.
  • Must undergo blood testing on a yearly basis.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
  • Must use restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves, employee cannot wear exposing footwear.
  • This position may require incumbent to travel up to 25% of the time.
