This position will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland Fitness Center.
This is a Regular Part-Time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to a Regular category position are eligible for benefits.
Duties
Plans, coordinates, and manages all administrative, operational, and fiscal aspects of a Fitness Center facility as assigned by the Fitness and Sports director. Coordinates with higher management to meet goals and objectives within deadlines and participates in the Recreation Delivery System (RDS) process. Performs all personnel management functions for assigned facility and determines performance standards and evaluates the performance of employees. Manages all aspects of base adult fitness program to include all core fitness activities, enhanced programs, and instructor contracts. Establishes an annual fitness plan for all training, fitness classes, incentive programs, and special events. Serves as facility expert for major and minor construction projects, providing input to Public Works (PW). Oversees all fitness contracts and ensures payments are made in accordance with the contract and Air Force guidance. Manages all core activity offerings, schedules and periodically reviews programs to ensure activities are meeting AFI requirements and customer needs. Ensures all activities adhere to safe exercise principles. Assists in establishing the appropriate exercise classes for those individuals on the Air Force FIP. Works in conjunction with the Sports Program Manager to administer and oversee the installation sports programs. Monitors sports competitions conducted in assigned facility. Conducts regular inspections of equipment for proper preventative maintenance practices. Assists in budget planning for initial equipment purchases or replacements. Conducts ongoing training for customers and staff on proper usage of fitness equipment. Assures fitness equipment areas have supervision/ monitoring during peak usage hours. Researches current fitness journal publications and provides sound, credible fitness information and products to customers. Determines training needs, approves leave requests, review personnel actions, maintains and documents 971/1391 file. Works with CES to ensure all relevant 1391s are in accordance with Headquarters Department of the Army Fitness Facility Design Standards, and Installation Status Reports (Quality Booklet, etc) are properly completed. Publicizes sports facilities, programs and events by writing articles for local newspapers and coordinates with marketing for posters, flyer's and other promotional material. Reviews directives from higher levels of authority and prepares implementing AOl's and updates regulatory guidance. Conducts sports facility tours for VIPs. Assists in the preparation of MWR and DoD Baseline Standards data call reports.

Qualifying Experience:
One year specialized experience which has provided knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures, and manages operations related to multiple fitness recreation facilities in order to perform the required activities. Experience must have demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Requires knowledge of preparing budgets. managing financial & physical resources of fitness & sports programs and organizing/utilizing available resources within the programs framework. Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching techniques of various sport. Must have ability to supervise, train, and schedule subordinates.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Be able to communicate both orally and writing.
2. Knowledgeable with facility and fitness safety and maintenance.
3. Ability to notice exterior / interior building deficiencies for replace or repair.
4. Ability to supervise, train, and schedule subordinates.
