This National Guard position is for a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR), Position Description Number D0606000 and is part of the PA Army Aviation Support Facility 2, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement.

Duties

As a FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR) GS-2185-10, you will serve as an instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members. Apply knowledge of the full range of aircrew duties and responsibilities, methods of instructions and requirements of the program, performs standardization currency, instrument, proficiency, tactical, emergency, and special tasks evaluation in flights. Determine and monitor factors and data affecting performance of aircraft, such as temperature, altitude, humidity, field conditions, configuration and weight of aircraft, on aircraft take off, flight and landing, and keeps pilot informed. Compute fuel and cargo load, and weight and balance factors. Perform other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 30 months experience which has provided you with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations, aircraft performance data, aircraft records maintenance, and aircraft systems. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
