This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs(VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Central Virginia VA Health Care System (Richmond VAMC), Richmond Virginia, Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Services (PSAS).
Duties
The incumbent initiates and carries out a wide array of advisory and technical duties. Other duties include but are not limited to:
Dispense off the shelf inventory items to patients and stock post the items to the patients transaction record screen.
Sorting, compiling, typing and distributing requisitions, orders and other PSAS documents.
Verify eligibility for Prosthetic Services thru the prosthetic package before issuing the equipment to the patient (i.e. ensuring a consult for equipment has been submitted to the service via CPRS by the appropriate clinical staff to includes doctors, nurses and/or therapists)
Reviews "stat" consults submitted to prosthetics and contact the service that submitted to educate on PSAS consult submittal process.
Notify supply chain, logistic inventory managers and supply techs of items with low amounts prior to running out of items on the shelves.
Mail out stock room orders as required.
Send order requests through CPRS in order to have patients scheduled in the Orthotic Lab to pick up equipment.
Process requests for turn-in of devices that are not returnable to companies purchased from.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/08/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Receiving patients; Mailing out requested equipment; Maintains electronic files; Recording and taking inventory of equipment; Collecting and tracking data; Preparing and submitting various reports; Review correspondence and documents for accuracy. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year. Only education more than the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Proficiency Requirements
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate. Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.

Physical Requirements: The work of the incumbent can be sedentary but requires moving and lifting equipment in the property distribution area. There is walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items up to 60 lbs. such as medical equipment and supplies provided to beneficiaries. The work also requires assembly of some of the equipment including, but not limited to, wheelchairs and rolling walkers.
