Duties
This position functions as an Electrician within the Maintenance and Repair and/or Projects Section, Facility Management Division for the Harry S. Truman Memorial Hospital, Columbia MO.Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Installs, modifies, repairs, troubleshoots, and tests new and existing electric systems including underground primary (13,800 volts) and secondary (480/277/208/120 volts) single and polyphase distribution systems, diesel operated auxiliary power generating systems, and pneumatic tube systems.
Inspects, locates, and diagnoses electrical trouble to perform maintenance service and repairs to electrical wiring systems, breaker panels, automatic and manual fire alarm and lighting systems, automatic lawn sprinkler systems, clocks, rheostats, thermostats, heating equipment, light fixtures, fans, motors, shop equipment, and other electrical equipment.
Plans, lays out, and completes the installation, modification and repair of signal systems, systems, relays, new outlets, new lighting, automatic timers, new shop equipment, and remodels, restores, and/or overhauls existing electrical installations and equipment.
Prepares site for telephone system installation/repair and associated terminations for communications, determining data necessary to identify installations, repairs, and maintenance of units that are on branch circuits from the distribution cabinets and mainframe.
Fabricates and installs conduit, prepares conductors for installation, connects component parts or component circuits, tests circuits, and connects completed circuitry to power source for energization.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:30pm (2nd shift)

Physical Requirements: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and inside manholes, and where the parts of the systems worked on are in hard-to-reach places. This requires incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and under hazardous conditions. Work frequently involves lifts, carries, and set up tools, equipment, and parts that may exceed 20 pounds and require heavy lifting.
