This vacancy is for an Investigation and Compliance Specialist in the Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of the Under Secretary, Office of Information and Communications Technology and Services (OICTS) within the Department of Commerce.
Duties
As an Investigation and Compliance Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Analyze key policy questions using risk-based methodologies and contribute to significant agency decisions, policy recommendations, and positions.
Plan and manage major and continuing investigation/compliance case work which involves high-priority cases that are central to agency objectives.
Work closely with subject matter experts in information and communication technological areas, including network infrastructure, automation, connected software, and infrastructure/platform as a service.
Acts as agency authority and spokesperson to other government agencies and foreign counterparts.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Investigation and Compliance Specialist, GS-1801-13, Full Performance Level (FPL) GS-13 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at GS-13 level, you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in at least two of the following:
Analyzing policies, financial, statistical, economic, and/or accounting data to identify compliance issues;
Participating in cases or projects that involve compliance with either regulatory or voluntary requirements;
Advising and updating management officials on the progress of compliance and/or mitigation issues;
Working with experts in the information and communication technological areas to assess systems or processes for nonconformity with technical requirements.
