Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Center of Excellence and Expertise. Duties

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to higher DHS officials within the scope of admissibility, entry and export of merchandise and revenue collection. Field Office Center: Atlanta- Consumer Products & Mass Merchandising (CPMM) Buffalo- Industrial & Manufacturing Materials (IMM) Chicago- Base metals (BM) Detroit- Automotive & Aerospace (AA) Houston- Petroleum, Natural Gas & Minerals (PNGM) Laredo- Machinery (MACH) Los Angeles- Electronics (ELEC) This position starts at a salary of $120,246.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $156,323.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $156,323.00 (GS-13 Step 10). In this first line supervisory position, you will become a key member of a team of homeland security professionals responsible for a wide range of admissibility and control requirements. Typical work assignments include: Providing expert technical advice to higher-level CBP officials on the entry process. Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Monitoring and evaluating employees' work products; establishing or recommending performance standards and evaluations. Monitoring and evaluating the delivery of services to customers and the methods and techniques used to provide them. Developing and implementing plans to improve the delivery of services, individually and with other Entry Supervisors, and through process improvement teams.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Responding to and resolving technical and operational questions regarding the programs supervised. Setting and adjusting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work. Performing a full range of supervisory functions including interviewing candidates, recommending rewards, counseling and discussing employee performance requirements hearing and resolving grievances, and taking disciplinary actions. Analyzing customs documents and applying customs laws, regulations, and procedures; interpreting customs requirements. Determining of rates of duty, classification of merchandise, and entry requirements. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.
