This position is located in Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests.
Incumbent serves as a Realty Specialist located on a Forest Service unit with primary responsibilities in Special Uses administration.
Duties
As part of assigned cases, researches court and other legal records, extracts and prepares real estate ownership data, land status, water rights, and reviews realty instruments to ensure that all requirements are met.
Becomes proficient with agency policies and regulations associated with lands activities.
In a developmental capacity, accompanies higher-grade specialists in contacts with land owners, assembles routine lands activities, and completes such transactions in accordance with clear-cut guidelines and procedures.
Requirements

- Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-09 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing work related to Special Uses administration. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: Assisted higher-level specialists in the administration of more complex special-use authorizations for a variety of activities such as, but not limited to, developing special-use permits and writing Operations and Maintenance Plans for recreation residences, linear rights-way, oil/gas pipelines, and electric powerlines; Compiled information for the development of reports on matters such as special-use field compliance inspections, pre-application meetings, and land ownership; Assisted in conducting routine realty investigations.
OR:
A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related;
OR:
An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
