You will serve as a PIPING SYSTEMS INSPECTOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will ensure inspection of all critical elements by using inspection guides and/or other available material. You will utilize practical mathematics to prepare preliminary estimates of man-hours and cost of material required to accomplish required work. You will ensure that decisions made during field inspections may be correct in fact and detail. You will determine existing and potential deficiencies and their apparent cause; make recommendations for correction; and determine condition code, degree of urgency; effect if not completed, and estimated cost of repairs.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Operation of other equipment may require additional licensing, e.g., forklift, cranes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT 1) Assisting in the inspection of water, sewer, steam, gas, and air piping systems and components to determine the need for repairs and preventive maintenance; and 2) Assisting in locating deficiencies, making appropriate reports, and recommending corrective action; 3) Examining construction and repair work performed on piping systems and components by Division trades personnel to ensure that work products are within acceptable standards, specifications, or other requirements. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
