This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Serve as a work leader over 3 or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.
Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
Perform analysis/diagnosis and final alignment of multiple subassemblies, assemblies and components used in electronic systems of the AVENGER Missile System, Sentinel Radar Systems, and associated equipment.
Perform a variety of operations such as inspecting, testing, aligning, positioning, fastening, and repairing the AVENGER Missile system, Sentinel Radar Systems, and associated equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance (Tier 3: Noncritical-Sensitive, Moderate Risk).
- Will be required to pass a pre-employment medical examination/physical and a re-occurring annual physical thereafter.
- Will be required to work shift work, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as well as on site repair in a field environment, on call emergency maintenance and recovery operations.
- Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DOD license required to operate government/military equipment and for the type of vehicle being operated for mission requirement.
- Will be required to observe established safe working procedures. The use of appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment is mandatory.
- Will be required to perform operator level maintenance on organizational assigned vehicles. May be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Will be required to perform housekeeping duties of work area as needed for the purpose of cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise as a(n) Electronics Mechanic Leader ~ without more than normal supervision. Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which provided skills and knowledge of the Following: performing journeyman level work troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions on a wide variety of electronic chassis, circuitry, and instrument systems; performing fabrication, repair and test of standard electronic systems and highly complex subsystems; operating and maintaining the associated test equipment and develop/recommend test procedures for system upgrades and modifications.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort - Frequently lifts and carry, unassisted, objects weighing up to 45 pounds. There are occasions when the incumbent is required to lift and carry objects weighing more than 45 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires working in cramped and awkward positions, frequent standing, bending, lifting, carrying, sitting, lying, crouching, reaching, stooping, walking, and occasionally climbing and working in high places eight to ten hours per day.
Working Conditions - Normally works in well-lighted heated and ventilated shop area. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns, and shock caused by handling soldering irons, high voltage energy, explosive components, etc. Work is performed in a missile assembly shop area. Incumbent is subject to frequent exposure of cold, heat, noise, dirt, grease, and fumes. May be required to wear protective clothing and is required to wear safety shoes and glasses. Works on concrete floors.
