Duties
In this Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management) role, you will become a key team member of Department of Homeland Security professionals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of mission support, workforce management, administrative research, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the agency.
This position starts at a salary of $86,962.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $113,047.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $113,047.00 (GS-12 Step 10).

Typical duties of this assignment include:
Developing and coordinating hiring plans by obtaining input from program officials.
Acting as liaison with Human Resources (HR) Specialists who identify, evaluate, and recommend to management appropriate HR interventions to resolve complex interrelated HR problems and issues, and advising management on how to proceed with and respond to their recommendations.
Generating, updating, and maintaining various reports, providing updated information for CBP's internal Table of Organization (TO) tracker.
Serving as a liaison with Labor and Employee Relations (LER), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEO), and the Office of Chief Counsel (OCC) for cases that have workforce implications.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status and staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
Submitting and monitoring personnel-related actions related to promotions, reassignments, transfers, retirements, awards, timecards, and leave.
Generating reports to track spending, identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies, and forecasting expenditures based on trends and operational needs.
Working with the finance team in monitoring overtime hours and pay to ensure that no employee exceeds the congressionally mandated overtime pay cap.

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 03/05/2024.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Working as a contractor, intern, consultant or volunteer supporting the U.S. government
Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
