This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position serves as a Social Worker for the Directorate of Morale Welfare and Recreation Army Community Services.

Duties

Provide standardized preventive, psycho-educational, intervention services of advanced nature through home visitation model for active-duty military personnel and their families. Complete initial, and risk assessments, of each parent to include social history and the administration/scoring of the Family Needs Screener (FNS). Develop a specialized Family Care Plan based on the assessment of the family and their unique needs. Provide education on a variety of topics. Prepare case management plan and initiates appropriate prevention plans and referrals for therapy with family and others, as needed. Conduct needs assessment, determines prevention requirements, and develops primary prevention services to inform and educate installation leadership and the community about maltreatment and family violence dynamics, treatment, life skills, training. Construct and maintain statistical data and narrative reports.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a Master of Social Work Degree from a university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • IAW DoDI 6400.05, a current valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work independently is required.
  • An independent clinical Social Work license, i.e., Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.
  • Position is identified as having “regular contact with children.
  • ” A criminal background/records check must be completed IAW DoDI 1402.05, AR 608-18 (MPs-NCIC, ASAP, ACR and State Child Protective Services)
  • And Army Directive 2014-23, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015, directing a CNACI, as required for this position.
  • Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing direct social work services to identify families in a home visitation program model designed to promote healthy family interactions, enhance parenting skills and reduce incidences of initial and recurrent family maltreatment among families. Note: Creditable experience may include military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
