You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Weapons Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will serve as a Sail Safety Coordinator and will be responsible, in cooperation with Ship's Force for the proper isolation, authorization and control of maintenance onboard units tended at the installation. You will prepare Master Sail Maintenance Work Authorization Form (WAF) and Technical Work Document (TWD) Record Sheets in accordance with Navy and locally generated instructions. You will ensure all associated sail WAF's are correct and properly tracked and placed on the Master Sail Maintenance WAF Technical Work Document Record Sheet. You will perform sail controlled evolution briefs and evaluation to ensure they are conducted safely. You will participate in critiques, refit planning meetings, weekly sail meetings, process improvement teams and LEAN Rapid Improvement Events. You will be responsible for training IMF production shops and TRIDENT submarine off-crew personnel in the Sail Safety process and procedures.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work in conducted in office spaces and shipboard environment. Walking, bending, and climbing ladders or moving in cramped or confined spaces in required.

Qualifications

GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering services executing work control processes (e.g. work authorizations, system isolation/tagouts, technical work documents) during the maintenance and repair of submarine hull, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems and components. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering services planning, coordinating and executing work control activities (e.g. work authorizations, system isolation/tagouts, preparation of technical work documents) during the maintenance and repair of submarine hull, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems and components.
