Boulder Facilities Maintenance Division Is responsible for managing and operating facilities for NIST sites in Boulder, Fort Collins and Kauai, ensuring maximum responsiveness to the needs of NIST, NOAA, and NTIA programs.
Duties
Provide various inspections across the NIST Boulder site including a variety of large and complex Federal buildings or facilities
Provide daily oversight during construction/remediation operations
Review construction/remediation plans and job hazard analyses
Attend pre-construction meetings
Inspect sites to ensure safe working conditions
Work with division members to issue appropriate permits for work being completed such as hot work, excavation, or confined space.
Develop, coordinate, and present safety trainings to the division or appropriate contract personnel
Serve as an in-division safety coach
Make decisions on safety code application and practices required to reduce or eliminate injury and gain code compliance
Inspect ladders both fixed and portable, conduct fume hood inspections, and inspect mechanical and electrical rooms as well as other safety assessments
Perform Contracting Officer's Representative duties and project management on safety related contracts
Requirements

- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service

- Merit applicants must meet time-in-grade/band requirements, as applicable
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination

Qualifications
In order to qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 (ZT-III at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as:
Providing technical assistance, consultation, and guidance related to the safety of mechanical systems
Conducting inspections of safety equipment during testing, renovation, maintenance, and construction activities
Performing workplace safety inspections during testing, renovation, maintenance, and construction operations
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
