This position is located in the Moving Image Section, National Audio-Visual Conservation Center Directorate, Researcher and Services Section located at the Culpeper Annex.  The position description number for this position is 449587. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.    

Duties

The Library of Congress National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC), nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Moving Image Section Head who will play a key role in leading and developing the national collection of film, video and television in analog and digital formats. We seek candidates who are excited to work in a collaborative and user-centered team environment inside a facility custom built for the storage and preservation of the largest collection of audiovisual materials in the world. At the GS-14 level, the incumbent will lead a team of 25 (including two units with subordinate supervisors; the Metadata Management and Digital Content Unit, and the Collections Management and Accessions Unit.

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. Ability to direct an archival management program for moving image or related performing arts collections.** Ability to supervise.** Ability to establish plans and priorities to preserve moving image or related performing arts collections.** Ability to build and acquire moving image or related performing arts collections. Ability to develop and implement access strategies and partnerships. Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
