This position is part of the Interior Business Center (IBC), Office of the Director (OD), IBC Enterprise Management. The incumbent will be responsible for general administrative support capacity in a central mailroom where mail is received, sorted, and routed through the IBC's mail room.
Duties
Receives and routes payroll documents, financial payment documents, correspondence, reports, and other miscellaneous materials to the appropriate offices.
Establishes and maintains proficiency in the use of all equipment, including, but not limited to postage scales and meters, date stamps, personal computers, fax machines, and copy machines. Other equipment used on occasion includes but is not limited to a pallet jack, drill press, and a banding machine.
Qualifications
Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
At the GS-04 level , you must meet one of the following qualifications:
General Experience: At least one (1) year of general experience which was equivalent to at least GS-3 in federal service. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as experience sorting and routing mail to distribution locations; inspecting outgoing mail for completeness and compliance; protect classified material from compromise while in personal custody and filing all completed documentation promptly.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Note: One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
