This position is located in the Business Office, Accounts Receivable at the Haskell Indian Health Center in Lawrence, Kansas. The incumbent performs accounts receivable support functions for the patient account system, through posting of payments and adjustments to accounts receivable in the Patient Accounts Section. Incumbent reports to the Business Office Manager.

Duties

Responsible for posting of all contractual/adjustments related to and in conjunction with posting of payment in accordance with policy and procedures Review and examine various bill types of patient care to third party payers and performs third party collection posting of the automated account receivable program Enter payment data into automated individual accounts receivable reflecting appropriate deductible coinsurance, non-covered charges and standard payment amount to reconcile patient accounts within 72 hours of receiving the batches Reconcile accounts comparing account balance with related data to assure agreement; review records and source documents to identify the sources and discrepancies and determine the entries required *This position is being re-advertised to solicit additional applicants. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience includes performing a variety of accounts receivable functions such as preparing daily collections, adjust and post payment, examine and follow-up on claims, reconcile and balance accounts, process refunds and prepare financial reports. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the GS-5 for the GS-6 grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
